How to Get Rid of a Farmer’s Tan

A farmer’s tan is a kind of a tan line where the forearms, neck, ankles, forehead, and wrist are sun tanned while areas generally covered by clothing are pale. A farmer’s tan is caused when people wear shirt or tops in combination with trousers in the sun. The uneven light and dark skin areas can be very bothersome.

How to Get Rid of Farmer’s Tan:

Here are few ways to get rid of farmer’s tan:

  • Exfoliate:

Exfoliating regularly can remove the dead cells and remove the farmer’s tan. You can use a loofah sponge or scrubbing sponge and clean your skin with an abrasive skin cleanser.

  • Sunless tanning lotions:

You can use sunless tanning lotions or self-tanners to remove the farmer’s tan. Tanning lotions can be chosen based on your skin tone to remove the tan lines

  • Tanning salon:

You can go to a tanning salon, and use a tanning bed to get rid of the farmer’s tan. The advantage in going to tanning salon is that you can cover the areas which require tanning and get an overall consistent tan

  • Sunscreen:

While going out in the sun, apply stronger sunscreen on areas which are already tanned and milder sunscreen (of SPF 15 or less) on paler skin areas. This will help you in getting rid of the farmer’s tan

You can use any of the above methods to get rid of farmer’s tan. The best treatment depends upon the amount of tan and the time in which you would like to treat it. For long term, exfoliating regularly is recommended
