Pitted Acne Scars

The scars of acne are found in different forms. Accordingly they are categorised in two categories of pitted or depressed acne scars and pigmented acne scars.

Pitted scars of acne are formed when the tissues under the skin are damaged due to some injury caused to them. It for the same reason that they are scattered all over. Whereas, depressed scars are “ice – pick” in appearance and have rough and sharp edges. These can be similar to the scars left from chicken pox.

Treatments For Pitted Acne Scars:

  • Massaging is necessary for acne scars. This is because the scars of acne have scar tissues which break up with massage. While massaging your scars make sure that pressure is applied evenly and it must be done in a circular motion over your scars. So, two to three minutes of massage each day is essential for your scars.
  • Peeling can also proof beneficial for acne scars especially chemical peeling. During peeling, chemicals are applied to skin which tend to burn it. As the result, the top layers of the skin are peeled off. The repeated application of this process will reduce the gravity of the scar and after some time will be erased entirely from the face.
  • Hydroxy acids can be used on your scars. The use of hydroxy acids on the scars will encourage in regenerating new cells which will replace the old scarred cells. So, the use of toners, moisturisers, cleanser, serums etc with hydroxy acids are recommended as the part of treatment.
  • Laser therapy is the best way to treat pitted acne scars. In this process the use of laser light breaks up tissues of the scars and the areas of intense pigmentation. Initial sitting will make your skin red and irritation can also be there but the repeated sitting will give you the desired results.
