How to Apply Lipstick?

It's not surprising to realise that the most popular beauty product in the world is lipstick. Reason why you can find lipsticks of all shades, brands, textures and finishes in a range of tubes, pots, pencils and wands that create those lush, beautiful lips.

For Sexy Lips:

Outline your lips with lip liner: To apply lip liner, place the elbow of your right hand (if you are right-handed) on a flat and steady surface or on the palm of your other hand and trace quickly and lightly the shape of your lips. When you reach the corners of your mouth, fade the line out by drawing a lighter line. Or cover the entire mouth with lip liner so it plays the role of a lipsticks base.

Using lip Balancer: Now, fill in your lips with a special base or balancer to even out your skin tone. If your lips are of an even colour, use a face powder for a base.

Fill up with Lipstick: Now, apply lipstick using a brush as it can stabilize the color.

Choosing the Right Color: While choosing a lipstick shade, you need to look at your skin color, hair color and shape of your lips. The thumb rule is as follows:

• For Light Skin and Blonde Hair: All shades of orange, pink, purple
• For dark skin and dark hair: All shades of red, violet
• For light skin and dark hair: All shades of brown and beige
• For red hair women: Coral-red, brown and bronze colors

Blotting your Lips: Place a folded clean tissue between your lips and press them lightly together to blot off any excess color and to help keep the remainder together rather than stain glasses and cups. Now, dab on a second coat of lipstick but take care not to apply more than three layers or your lips will look very thick and ugly.

Last Application: Now, comes the time to apply a layer of lip gloss for that gleaming look. If you have extra full lips, use just a little lip gloss.

Highlighting your Lips:

You can highlight your lips, depending on their shape and thickness in these ways:

• If you have a Small Mouth and Small Lips: Correct them by using running a lip liner pencil outside the natural lip line. Now, fill in with primer and lipstick. If you highlight it with frosting on the upper lip, it would give an impression of fullness.
• If you have a Large Mouth and Full Lips: First, apply liquid foundation to the entire mouth, and follow it up with a an outline of a dark shade of lipstick just inside the natural shape of the mouth. Next, apply a lighter shade lipstick carefully and accurately within this outline. Use subdued shades and medium toned lip colours. Avoid dark browns, plums, electric shades or pale shimmer shades.
• If you have a Full Upper Lip: Apply fluid foundation on the upper lip and outline inside its natural contour with a dark shade of lipstick. Next, outline the lower lip just outside its natural contour and to draw attention to it, fill in a lighter shade of lipstick.
